There are three basic types of home theater furniture that you
may also need to buy before you'll be able to completely and properly set up your home theater room:
furniture to hold your TV and A/V components
floor stands or wall mount brackets for speakers
enough comfortable seating for everyone
TV / AV furniture The major factor here is whether you will be wall-mounting your
television. If you plan on permanently affixing your LCD or plasma flat panel HDTV on the wall, you'll need to purchase and
properly install the right TV wall mount bracket. In this case, you may want to also purchase an A/V component rack that can
hold your home theater receiver, disc player, HD receiver, video game console, Monster Power, etc.

If you'll instead
be setting your television on top of a TV stand, be sure that
component shelves below are sturdy and plentiful enough to
support/hold all of your A/V components. Look for furniture that
features built-in wire management, or check out CableOrganizer.com if you want to minimize visibility and improve the appearance of cables and wiring.
Speaker stands and/or mounts Especially if you will be setting
up a 5.1 or 7.1 channel home theater system you will need to get each of your
five to seven surround sound speakers and subwoofer in their ideal room locations to extract the very best possible performance from your surround sound system.
If your home theater system does NOT include enough speaker stands or wall mount brackets
for your particular room setup, you will need to purchase them separately.

Seating furniture UNLESS you're planning on yourself
and your family and friends to be using your big screen television and
home theater system while either standing up or seated/lying on the floor, you
will likely also need to invest in some comfortable seating such
as a sofa, loveseat, or best of all, home theater recliners with built-in cup holders for holding your favorite beverages!
A big decision you will need to make in your comparison
shopping besides styling is whether you want to buy your home theater seating furniture in
one or more adjoined rows or purchase individual seats. Of course, this partly depends on the size of your home theater room. Don't forget to leave enough room for
the fully-reclined position! You may want/need to raise the the
height of non-front row seating by building a riser.
