A home theater in a box was never meant to be the ideal surround sound system
solution for everyone! Long before manufacturers began to package a basic home theater receiver (sometimes with matching
separate component DVD/CD player) or an integrated DVD/receiver combo and a surround sound speaker system together inside the
same box, you were required to select and purchase your receiver and speakers separately.
The main reason that we have chosen to showcase only HTIB systems priced
under $1000 on this website is that the nearer the price tag approaches a grand, the more great arguments you can make for separately choosing and purchasing a (perhaps more advanced,
full-featured) home theater receiver and matched set of surround sound speakers from another speaker manufacturer. |
Of course, to properly set up a complete home theater, you will still need to separately purchase or supply (just like you'd need to do with a "conventional" home theater in a "single" box) a
big screen television or home theater projector, one or more source components such as Blu-ray Disc player, video game console, HDTV receiver, any home entertainment furniture for supporting and/or mounting your HDTV / projector, AV components, speakers, and seating for yourself, family, and friends, and all the necessary AV cables, speaker wires, and surge protection to properly connect it all.
