If you want to purchase a home theater system in a box that also allows you to listen to music in another listening area (Zone 2) in
addition to your home theater room, there are two HTIB systems that you should consider.
Dual-source, dual-zone The more advanced 7.1 system is Onkyo's HT-S7200 (pictured to the right), the best home theater in a box featured on this
site that will actually allow you to listen to surround sound in your home theater room, while at the same time, pump another stereo music source to a second zone, perhaps
outside. The versatile Onkyo HT-RC160 home theater receiver that's included with the Onkyo HTS7200 HTIB has five HDMI inputs as well as a Zone 2 Speakers output and a Zone 2 Line Out for connecting an OPTIONAL pair of speakers or an external power amplifier for driving multiple
speaker pairs. You've even got independent volume control for Zone 2.
S-AIR If you DON'T need HDMI audio/video switching and DON'T
care about listening to multiple sources at the same time, you should consider Sony's DAV-HDX587WC BRAVIA DVD home theater system (also available from B&H and Vann's). In addition to its integrated 5 disc DVD/CD changer and iPod dock, the included S-AIR speaker system lets you easily send your music wirelessly to another room in your home. In
fact, with the purchase of additional OPTIONAL AIR-SA10 systems, you can set up multi-room listening in up to 10 rooms! |
